Attorney Profile
Attorney Suzan Boden is a graduate of Iowa State University (B.S. 1977), Mercy Hospital School of Medical Technology (1977), and the University of South Dakota (J.D. 1987). She is admitted to practice law in the United States Appellate Court (8th Circuit) and United States Federal Court, as well as Iowa and South Dakota state courts. Suzan handles primarily workers’ compensation and personal injury cases, such as work-related deaths, on-the-job injuries, lost wages, medical and disability benefits, repetitive stress injuries (e.g. carpal tunnel syndrome), occupational illness/disease, bodily injuries, car accidents, construction accidents, and slip and fall accidents. She also handles adoption, juvenile, guardianship/conservatorship, social security disability, title opinions, real estate property contract disputes, quiet-title matters, and civil litigation. With Suzan, your consultation is always free!
Suzan became a lawyer after working for several years as a medical technologist (clinical laboratory scientist). This background gives her a unique perspective when dealing with clients who have been injured, as she understands how the medical field works. The detail-oriented requirements of a laboratory scientist also translate into an extremely diligent attorney. Suzan will leave no stone unturned in all areas of your case!
Suzan has served on the Iowa Association for Justice Workers’ Compensation Core Group for over a decade. They are self-charged with advancing the cause of injured workers while improving their right to fair trial, promoting the administration of justice, and upholding the honor and dignity of the profession of law.
Suzan also served on the Iowa State Judicial Nominating Commission, who are responsible for interviewing applicants to fill all judicial vacancies at both the appellate and supreme court levels. The Commission has only sixty days from when the notice of judicial vacancy is received to submit three nominees from the list of applicants to the Governor. Picking only three nominees for each judicial vacancy out of many well-qualified applicants can sometimes be a daunting task. Luckily, Suzan does not shy away from challenges and thoroughly enjoyed her time on the Commission.
Suzan is a longtime Sioux City resident. She loves being surrounded by nature while cycling, gardening, and traveling. In fact, she serves on the board (and past President) of the Woodbury County Conservation Foundation helping to manage our natural resources in an ecologically sound manner and to conserve our green spaces, history, and culture for the enjoyment of future generations to come. Suzan also enjoys reading, CrossFit, and spending time with her family.
